The Carnton Plantation in Franklin Tennessee was the home of John and Carrie McGavock. On November 30, 1864,
it became the largest Confederate field hospital of the Civil War. In several rooms heavy blood stains still mar the floors! This pen and ink drawing is part of the Sketches of Historic Franklin series. Carnton is a historic plantation house and museum in Franklin in Williamson County, Tennessee. It is the setting for the novel The Widow of the South, by author Robert Hicks.
