The Carter House, built in 1830 by Fountain Branch Carter, witnessed one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War on November 30,1864.  Evidence of this battle still remains with over 1,000 bullet holes on the site!  This pen and ink sketch is part of the Sketches of Historic Franklin series.
